This course focuses on the income tax and the goods and services tax (GST) in Singapore. It aims to achieve the following objectives: an appreciation of the policy considerations that drive the changes to the tax law - the Policy objective; an understanding of the key tax concepts and principles and the ability to apply them - the Compliance objective; and an awareness of the role of taxation in decision-making by businesses and individuals and how legitimate tax planning could reduce tax costs - the Planning objective.
