BF2201 Investments

NTU Nanyang Business School (Business)

Module:

BF2201 Investments

Description:

This is an introductory course in investments. The objective of this course is to provide business and accounting students with a broad understanding of investments and portfolio management. The course begins by describing the background for the study of investments which include an understanding of the various investment alternatives, allocation of assets, the markets where securities are bought and sold, and how to manage an investment portfolio. The analyses and valuation of equity and fixed-income securities will then be discussed. The course ends with a discussion of derivative securities and how to evaluate portfolios. The course is intense despite its introductory nature. As ethics has become an integral part of investments these days, all students enrolled in BF215 are required to attend one seminar on ethics and sit for a quiz on ethics. The ethics component of BF215 will be coordinated by Dr Siriwan Chutikamoltham. Note that the seminar and quiz on ethics are additional components on top of the regular seminars and mid-term quiz for the main BF215 course.
