Module:

BH3604 Managing Organisational Change

Description:

Leading change is often cited as one of the top leadership priority in organisation. Yet a significant number of organisations report high failure rate in driving change initiatives. While employees are told that “the only constant is change”, many do not have positive experience when they are involved in the change process. Resistance to change, if not well managed, will result in unproductive work or even unintended consequences. There are ways to mitigate such risks and increase chance of successful change implementation. Change occurs at multiple levels, from individual mindset to organisation systems and processes. In some cases, the change requires external stakeholders’ buyin and commitment. Human resource practitioner, together with relevant function team members, is often involved as key partner and/or change agent in planning and executing change. An effective change agent needs to be knowledgeable in change management theory and practice. Successful change agent is highly proficient in keeping track on two key pillars, namely change process and people issues.
