LM9001- Malay Language Level 1
Description:
The course aims to provide students with competence in understanding and using basic Malay, that is, to enable students to use Malay language with regard to the four language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking - at the basic level.The emphasis is on its practical use within a limited range of situations at the level of everyday communication. It aims to enable students to express themselves on things close to themselves using simple expressions. The content progresses from the easier aspects of the language to the more difficult ones. The content covers aspects of linguistics such as phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. The content takes into consideration lexicogrammar which will enable students to learn through identifying patterns and characteristics. The content of this course is also designed to introduce some aspects of Malay sosial, cultural and religious practices through the use of texts and exercises in the course materials.
